  1. Dewey C Butler says:

Steven was our brother and I am sorry to see him go. I do so wish our lives with Steven could have been different. He had the best athletic skills of the three of us. He was bright and personable. He was my brother and I love him and I’m sorry he is gone. He doesn’t have to fight the demons anymore…

  2. Terry Hayes says:

For a time in high school, I had the privilege of being really good friends with Steve. He was such a fierce athlete on the football field but such a gentle, quiet and kind person off the field. Bud, Steve and I had lots of fun. That is the Steve I will always remember and hold in my heart

  3. John Albers says:

I had the great pleasure of spending much time with this Savannah gentleman. Met him in passing as he was sitting relaxing on Abercorn St alone. He and I instantly “hit it off”. He was a Savannah treasure and introduced me to many historic sites locally. He loved his home, Savannah. He gave me a tour of his old neighborhood; church, school, stately mansions where he partied growing up. Spoke fondly about his family. He was so generous and though he faced some real challenges the last couple of years when I knew him he never complained but was always there when someone needed encouragement. He was tough but gentle I wish I could have seen him pitch in his prime!
