Robert “Rob” George Thompson, Sr., 65, of Bloomingdale, Georgia, and husband of Susan Horne Thompson, passed away Tuesday morning, October 18, 2022, at Hospice House of Savannah.

Born in Long Island, New York, he was a son of the late Arthur Edward Thompson and the late Elizabeth Thompson. Rob worked for forty years as a welder for Gulfstream Aerospace. He enjoyed riding and working on his motorcycles, a Moto Guzzi 850 El Dorado and a Kawasaki Vulcan 900.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Susan Horne Thompson; son, Robert Thompson, Jr., his wife Kathryn, and their daughter Charlotte; daughter, Lynn Lowe and her husband Braydon.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.

    Prayers to the family worked with Robert in tool shop many years he loved his family and enjoyed going snow skiing with them and riding his motorcycle may God bring comfort during this difficult time .

    Welder….as I and a lot of people knew him as, was one of a kind. You always knew where he stood on any subject. And when he was ready to be done, he was done. When he smiled he had that quirky grin with a twinkle in his eye. At least that’s how I remember him. Glad he isn’t in pain anymore. Fly high and as fast as you want on those streets of gold on your moto Welder!
