On Sunday, September 27, 2020, Jimmy Gerido Jr., a loving son, brother and friend passed away at age of 61.

Jimmy was born in Savannah, Georgia in 1959 to Marie S. Bowman and Jimmy (Albertha) Gerido, Sr. He graduated from Savannah High School in 1977. Jimmy attended Savannah State University for three years before joining the United States Navy. Jimmy traveled the world while in the navy serving on the newly recommission battleship USS New Jersey in the 1980’s as a radio operator on its world tour. Savannah was always home to him, Jimmy had a loving a heart for his community, he loved his family and he loved his friends. Jimmy had a servant’s heart always, always assisting others when asked for help, whether it was with his time, money or with food. He lived life to the fullest and was an avid Dallas Cowboys football fan.

Jimmy was preceded in death by a younger brother Shawn Anthony Jones twenty-three years ago on the same day. He is survived by his brothers Michael (Anita), Steven (Tonya), Rodney (Leona), Troy (Teneka), Muhammad (Loleatha), Dwan (Lynette) and a sister Sequoia (Korey), several cousins, nieces and a nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 Wednesday afternoon, October 7, 2020, at Gamble Funeral Service – 410 Stephenson Avenue.

The funeral service will be held 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service. Interment will be private.

    My deepest condolences to Gerido Family…Jimmy will truly be missed by all the residents in 1300 Block of Waldburg Street. As he called himself “Jimmy The Lovely One.”An avid diehard Cowboy’s Fan, we hadhad several arguments about my Falcon’s and his Cowboy’s…but only love arguments Good Fun. Jimmy truly be missed, he knew my kitchen caught on fire be brought me paint, he knew I was in house quarantine with positive COVID-19 he brought sodas. If he was your friend you knew it…I am glad he was my friend and I his. Lovely One take your Rest In Power. I can’t be there to say Good bye in the physical but my heart and spirit with his family and so many friends all my Big Bruhs I lift you all today that God strengthen you all his Bruthers from other mother’s and father’s blood couldn’t make them all closer.
