William Ray Kniphfer, 78, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Elenor Jeanette 'Janet' Anderson Kniphfer, died Friday morning, June 27, 2014, at his residence.
Born in Bartow, Georgia, he was a son of the late Homer Kniphfer and the late Addie Lee Guinn Kniphfer. Ray was a member of Savannah Baptist Temple. He was a retired master plumber. Ray formerly served in the Georgia National Guard.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Elenor Jeanette 'Janet' Anderson Kniphfer of Savannah; two daughters, Patricia Ann Palmershein and her husband, James, and Janet Marie Smith, all of Grapevine, Texas; one son, William Ray 'Billy' Kniphfer, Jr. and his wife, Melisande Whitworth, of Jonesboro, Georgia; two grandchildren, James Joshua Hankinson and Lauren Nicole Palmershein; one brother, Raymond Kniphfer and his wife, Lou Nell, of Savannah; two sisters-in-law, Ora Jean Kniphfer and Freida Kniphfer, both of Savannah, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 Saturday at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the graveside, Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by The Reverend Dr. H. M. Porter.
