William James Harty IV

William James Harty, IV passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on January 18, 2026. He was born October 29, 1963 in Savannah, Georgia and was the first born son of Marie Summerlin Harty and William James Harty, III. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sisters, Mariah Harty Martin, Joan Harty Edge, and Marcia Harty Barefield, and his baby brother, Brian Francis Harty.

He is survived by his nieces, Larkin (Matthew Chumley) and her son, Daniel Chumley, Catherine (Bradley Neverson) and her daughters, Brooklyn and Braelyn Neverson, Marie Griffin,Jessica Edge and Sara Martin. Many cousins and genuine friends.

He had many jobs over the years. From Union Camp in his heyday to laying carpet to cooking on a riverboat.

Having had no children of his own, he loved his nieces very much. Affectionately known as “Uncle B” to the girls and their friends for decades. He was a lover of nature and sarcasm always had a story ready to tell.

He will be remembered fondly and missed incredibly by the ones who loved him. There will be no formal service. Our Uncle B loved animals and held a special place in his heart for rescues. Therefore, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local animal rescue organization.
