Lila Walton Herrington Boone, 85, of Thunderbolt, Georgia and former owner of Desposito\'s Seafood Restaurant, died Saturday afternoon, May 30, 2020, at the home of her daughter on Wilmington Island.
Born at home in Perkins, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Walter Theron Herrington and the late Lila Long Herrington. Walton graduated from Millen High School which was the first year Georgia added the 12th grade. She was the credit manager for many years for Town and Country Dress Shop in Savannah. For many years Walton worked and later owned and operated Desposito's Seafood Restaurant in Thunderbolt. She will be remembered as a strong woman with a great work ethic who worked tirelessly to raise her children.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Larry O'Neal Flowers; one sister, Ethel Herrington Buchheit, and one brother, James Seaborn Herrington.
Surviving are two daughters, Deborah 'Debbie' Boone Flowers of Black Creek and Sandra 'Sandy' Boone Findley of Savannah; three sons, Nicholas 'Nick' D. Boone, Jr. and his wife, Jacquelyn, of Apex, North Carolina, Jerry D. Boone, Sr. and his wife, Terry, of Pooler, and David Boone of Thunderbolt; twelve grandchildren, Jerry D. Boone, Jr., Tamara DeMaio, Tina Flowers, Rob Findley, Sheila Findley, Lori Findley, Jacob Price and his wife, Samantha, Jessica Boone, Keith Dwayne Boone, Rebecca Gilchriest and her husband, Oliver, Nicholas D. Boone III and his wife, Kelly, and Amber Griggs and her husband, Tim; fifteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry Randall Herrington of Jacksonville, Florida, and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Monday, June 1, 2020, at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 7 o'clock Monday evening, June 1, 2020, in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by the Reverend Dr. Drew Corbett. Interment will be at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, June 2, 2020, in Dry Branch Baptist Church Cemetery ' 3231 Perkins Hiltonia Road near Perkins.
