Sanda Sparks Thomson, 71, a cherished wife, mother, and friend passed away surrounded by family on Friday, December 15, 2023, in Savannah, Georgia. Sanda had a giving heart and beautiful soul that will forever leave a lasting impression on those who knew her.
Sanda was predeceased by her father, Dean Sparks, her mother, Billie Harper, and her step-father George Harper. Their love and guidance shaped her character and values throughout her life.
Sanda was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she met her husband, Thomas Thomson. Tom and Sanda were married on October 12, 1974. Married 49 years, they had two children: Kristy Thomson of Savannah, and Matthew Thomson of Merrimack, New Hampshire. The joy in her life was magnified by her family including the addition of her son-in-law John Leth-Nissen.
Sanda went back to college after having children and received a Bachelor of Arts (Public Relations) degree from the University of South Florida, and an Associate in Arts degree from Hillsborough (Tampa, Florida) Community College. She then worked at Roberts Communications (now ChappellRoberts) in Tampa, Florida and then later remotely from Savannah. Sanda was a member of the Public Relations Society of America.
Sanda enjoyed spending time with family, reading, quilting, traveling and her standard poodles over the years, Terra, Star, Roxie and Hope. Long Boat Key, Florida remained a favorite vacation spot after honeymooning there with Tom. Since Tom retired, taking riverboat cruises in Europe were eagerly looked forward to and enjoyed.
The foundation of Sanda’s life was her Christian Science faith, which she studied daily. Sanda was a life-long member of the Christian Science church serving in numerous positions throughout the years. She was a member of the Christian Science Society, Savannah, and of the Christian Science Mother Church in Boston, Massachusetts.
As we reflect on Sanda’s life, we know her spirit will continue to live and that she gave us memories too beautiful to forget.
