Salvatore Anthony Cori passed away peacefully in his home in Savannah, Georgia on Thursday November 14th, 2024. He was 84 years old. He was born and educated in New York, raised his family in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and moved to Savannah, Georgia for the birth of his first granddaughters.
Those carrying on his legacy include daughters, Jaclyn Cori Norman and Janice Cori; granddaughters, Cameron Norman, Cori Norman and Sula Sal Cori; and son-in-law, Chris Norman.
He earned his undergraduate degree in Engineering at City College of New York, and his master’s degree at Union College. He was a proud First Lieutenant of the United States Army Corps of Engineers. He devoted his 25-year career to IBM.
He was a master in the kitchen. A true foodie. When he made his famous meatballs or pancakes, his granddaughters came running to the table. His chocolate chip cookies, tiramisu and brownies were the grand conclusion of almost every meal. He taught his granddaughters how to make the best cannoli. And for family gatherings his eggplant parmigiana and handmade gnocchi with gorgonzola aroused applause.
A celebration of life will be held privately with immediate family. In lieu of flowers, please devour and savor the best cannoli you can find. That would make him smile.
