Sally Denise Bruckner Connelly, 65, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, at Hospice Savannah after a tough and courageous battle with lung cancer. She was surrounded by the love of her family.
Sally was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia. She graduated from Savannah Christian School and attended Armstrong State College. Throughout her remarkable 45-year career in the banking industry, Sally earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. She retired in September 2025 from Synovus, where she served as Vice President Regional Market Manager.
A woman of strong faith, Sally was a devoted member of Compassion Christian Church. She found great joy in serving others and faithfully volunteered by delivering groceries to homebound members of her community through her church ministry.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Patricia Willean Woods Bruckner and Frederic William Bruckner, and by her beloved husband, Kevin Layne Connelly.
She is survived by her cherished sons, Michael Layne Connelly and Matthew Ryan Connelly; her sister and brother-in-law, Patti and Joey Butler; her niece, Karli Nunez; and many extended family members and dear friends.
Sally was larger than life and truly the life of every party. Her infectious laughter, vibrant personality, and generous spirit drew people to her wherever she went. She loved spending time at the lake and the beach, traveling to new places, and making lasting memories with those she loved especially in South Carolina.
Perhaps most importantly, Sally had a gift for friendship. Over the years, she gathered around her a circle of friends whom she considered family. Her kindness, loyalty, and unwavering support touched countless lives.
Sally’s legacy of faith, service, love, and friendship will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The family will receive friends 10 o'clock until 12 noon Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Ave., Savannah. Funeral services will follow at 12 noon in the Chapel of Gamble Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice Savannah or a charity of one’s choice in Sally’s memory.
