Robert Willard Edinger, Jr., 63, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Mary Anne Warmack Edinger, died Friday morning, June 9, 2017, at Memorial University Medical Center.
Born in Thunderbolt, Georgia, he was a son of the late Robert Willard Edinger, Sr. and the late Ruth Russell Edinger. Robert was of the Lutheran faith. He retired as an engineer after 40 years of service with CSX Railroad. Robert was a member of Zerubbabel No. 15 F. & A.M., the Scottish Rite, and Alee Shrine Temple where he was a member of the Iron Knights. He also loved his country and our president. Robert was an avid University of Georgia and Atlanta Braves fan. Poopah, as he was called by his family, was known for his love for his family, riding his motorcycle, his yorkies, and growing vegetables from seeds.
Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Mary Anne Warmack Edinger of Savannah, Georgia; two step-sons, Paul R. Herrmann II (Geanne Marsh) of Stilson, Georgia and Thomas A. Herrmann and his wife, Meg, of Savannah, Georgia; four grandchildren, Paul Herrmann III, Thomas Herrmann II, Erin Herrmann and Jacob Herrmann; four great-grandchildren including Cory Hamilton, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Friday evening at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Saturday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Dr. Samuel W. Watkins. Interment, with Masonic Rites, will be in Bonaventure Cemetery.
