Richard Martin Halperin, a Vietnam War Army veteran, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, with family by his side.

Born in Savannah, Georgia, to Ada and Sydney Halperin, he built a life grounded in hard work, devotion to family, and service to others. He was a restaurateur by trade and took great pride in his work and in caring for those around him.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a longtime member and supporter of the Jewish War Veterans, reflecting his deep pride in both his military service and his faith.

He was the loving husband of Vickie, and a devoted father to Sydney and Stephanie. He is survived by his grandchildren Lauren, Emily, Evan, and Chelsey, and by his great-grandchildren Cayden, Caroline, and Tucker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ada and Sydney Halperin; his sister, Rita; and his granddaughter, Charlotte.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather whose steady presence, warmth, and care left a lasting mark on his family.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Bonaventure Cemetery, in accordance with Jewish burial customs, with military honors. Arrangements are being handled by Gamble Funeral Service.

The family is deeply grateful for the care and compassion shown by hospice, and for the love and support of friends and family during this time.
