Paul Norman Edwards, 72, of Tybee Island, Georgia, passed away on October 8th of heart disease. His wife Jean Kefalidis was with him when he passed peacefully in his sleep.
Paul was born July 16, 1953, in Topeka, Kansas. He grew up in Marion, Ohio, the oldest child of four, an all-star baseball player and a lifeguard. As an English major at Ohio State University, he loved creative writing and graduated with honors. He earned a law degree at Cleveland State University and taught legal writing and other subjects as a professor in the law school at Ohio Northern University. He then moved to the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C., studying securities law at Georgetown University and participating in federal legal decisions. He later was named Partner in respected law firms in Buffalo and Cleveland before retiring in 2014.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his brother Don Edwards (Sharon); sister Janet Van Nuys (Frank); son Kit Edwards (Kate); daughter Amanda Edwards; and stepdaughter Eleni Kefalidis. He was preceded in death by father Robert Edwards; mother Janet Bee Edwards; and brother Carl Edwards.
Paul enjoyed concerts, the blues and classic rock music, reading, swimming, and spending time boating and near the beach. He was kind and gentle, a protective and generous older brother to his siblings, and a devoted father to Kit and Amanda, who meant the world to him. He also doted on his grandchildren through Kit and Kate: Quinn, Blake, Joey, and Hank, and his grandnieces and nephews Ryder, Luke, and Emmy.
A memorial service celebrating Paul’s life will be held at a future date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Domestic Violence Project of Canton, Ohio (www.dvpi.org).
