SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Patricia Jean Ferro Saunders, 84, of Savannah, Georgia, and formerly of Canton, Illinois, wife of Chaplain LTC George E. Saunders, U.S. Army (Ret.), died Sunday morning, May 27, 2012.
Born in Canton Illinois she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Gertrude Ferro. Mrs. Saunders was a dedicated minister's wife and mother and her interests were varied. She enjoyed writing poetry, cooking, oil painting, crocheting, knitting, sewing, ceramics and rubber stamping. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Jane Ferro Ellsworth and her brother, Robert "Keno" Ferro.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Chaplain LTC George E. Saunders, U.S. Army (Ret.) of Savannah, Georgia; one daughter, Chris Dasher and her husband, Don, of Savannah; one sister, Margaret Barton, of Manchester, MO; her sister in-law, Fern Miller of Canton, Illinois; her niece, Laurie Barton of Ballwin, MO; five nephews, Jamie Barton of Katy, Texas, Martin Pschirrer of Rockford, Illinois, Tom Pschirrer of Charleston, Illinois, Doug Ellsworth of Champaign, Illinois and Brad Ellsworth of Normal, Illinois.
The family wishes to thank all of the many caregivers who were so loving and caring and a special thanks for the care and support provided by Dr. David Gaskin, Mary McCourt and staff, Dr. Dale Daly and staff, Dr. D. Mullins and Edith Utley and staff.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
