MSgt Jack T. Waterlander, 77, U. S. Air Force (Ret.), of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Grace Schaap Waterlander, died Tuesday morning, January 5, 2016, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, he was the son of the late Elmer Waterlander and the late Tina Harmens Waterlander. Jack was a member of the Church of Christ. He retired from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant after 20 years of service. MSgt Waterlander was awarded numerous commendations including the Silver Star. He loved his family and enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Grace Schaap Waterlander of Savannah, Georgia; three sons, Kenneth J Waterlander and wife Cynthia of Goose Creek, SC, Ronald J Waterlander and wife Debra of Savannah, GA, and Steven J Waterlander and wife Ann of Ladson, SC; eight grandchildren, Tracy Waterlander Knight and husband Kenneth, Daniel Waterlander, Andrew Waterlander, Kristy Waterlander, Kevin Waterlander and wife Micah, Brian Waterlander, Ben Williams and Victoria Waterlander; three great-grandchildren, Lilly Knight, Lacy Knight and James Waterlander; one sister, Elma James of Nanaimo, British Columbia, and two nieces.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Friday evening at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by Minister Mark J. Ward. Entombment, with full military honors, will be in Hillcrest Abbey ' West.
