Mary Perry Grissom passed away in Murphy, NC surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at the age of 93. She was born in Savannah, GA but lived in Savannah, Richmond Hill, and Hayesville, NC.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Gail “Shorty” Grissom, parents, Joseph and Isabelle Perry, her daughter, Patricia Grissom Lamb, her grandson, Ryan Anthony Nelson, and her sisters, Kathleen Perry Bagwell and Margaret Perry Hanson.

Mary is survived by her children Steve Grissom (Maggie), David Grissom (Beth), Joanie Nelson (Greg), and Margaret Bacon (Olan). She was blessed by 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and another expected in December.

Mary graduated from Savannah High School and was active in the choir at St. James Catholic Church before moving to Richmond Hill. She also served as a Girl Scout leader when her daughters were active scouts.

Visitation and services will take place at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Ave., Savannah, AT A DATE AND TIME TO BE ANNOUNCED. Burial will follow in the Holy Cross section of the Catholic Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory can be made to Ronald McDonald House of the Coastal Empire and the American Cancer Society.
