Martha Rose Horgan, beloved daughter of Alice and James Horgan, passed away on Monday afternoon, November 24th, in her childhood home in Savannah, Georgia. For three years, Martha courageously and heroically battled her illness with grace, resilience, and unwavering faith.
Martha attended Savannah High School and was a devoted member of Church of God Coastal Cathedral. She took great joy in attending church events and found comfort and strength in reading scripture.
Known affectionately to everyone as “Miss Martha,” she was cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was recognized for her warm smile, her kind words, and her thoughtful acknowledgment of every person she encountered—whether it was the ladies at the bank, nurses and LPNs in medical offices, clerks at the pharmacy, delivery drivers, receptionists, or even a stranger sharing an elevator. She never missed an opportunity to offer grace and kindness.
For 25 years, Miss Martha was the welcoming face at AJ&C Garfunkel. Her kindness, loyalty, and gracious manner served the company well. She quickly became part of the Garfunkel family and held a special place in the hearts of the children and grandchildren who grew up visiting the office.
Heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers of Buckingham @Home and Hospice Savannah for the loving care, dignity, and compassion shown to Martha in her final weeks.
Miss Martha will be laid to rest at Catholic Cemetery on Tuesday, December 9th at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rambam Day School, Church of God Coastal Cathedral, or Asbury Memorial Church.
