Joseph O. Ehret, 92, husband of Theresa Glaub Ehret, died Monday afternoon, November 23, 2015, at his home and surrounded by his family. He and Theresa had been married for 69 years and remained devotedly in love.



Joe was born on August 17, 1923, in Newark, Ohio to parents William and Anna Ehret. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, William, and one sister, Anita.



He was a great, loving father to 11 children. Gary (Donna) of Copperscove, Texas, Wayne (Pamela) of Savannah, Gregory of Columbus, Ohio, Krista Ward (John) of Savannah, Jeffrey (Cara) of Loveland, Ohio, Cheryl Norris (Bill) of Jasper, Georgia, Randy of Chicago, Illinois, Elaine of Savannah, Philip (Brion) of Savannah, Brian (Susan) of Bloomingdale, Georgia and Matthew (Sarah) of North Chesterfield, Virginia. He was grandfather to 28 and great-grandfather to 13.



He had been a communicant of St. James Parish since moving to Savannah forty years ago. He served as Minister of the Eucharistic and also nursing home minister. He was Manager of Manufacturing Engineering at Roper Lawn Products and later American Yard Products for 48 years.



He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and belonged to the American Legion. He was an active participant in the Boy Scout Association and is proud of four of his son\'s achieving Eagle Scout status. He was a 70 year member of the Elks Club and was a long time member of LaVida Country Club where he enjoyed golfing with his friends and achieved four holes in one.



The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Friday at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue with the Rosary service being held at 7 o'clock in the funeral home chapel.



Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 o'clock Saturday morning at St. James Catholic Church conducted by Father Mark J. Ross. Interment, with military honors, will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
