Dr. James Patrick Evans, “Pat,” 95, died with his family by his side on
 
 January 27 th . He grew up in Orlando, FL, later moving to Augusta, GA.
 
 He graduated from his beloved University of Georgia and then medical
 
 school at Medical College of Georgia.
 
 He was a co-founder of Savannah Pediatrics. A beloved pediatrician for
 
 44 years, he steadily received greetings from former patients who
 
 fondly recalled Evans’ wit and care. For example, he balked when a
 
 mother asked him to command her daughter to eat a vegetable that he
 
 himself didn’t eat.
 
 He believed family was vital, once asking “What else is there?” He
 
 sought to keep his family together, especially for Thanksgiving dinners.
 
 He enjoyed football, lasting friendships, fishing, jokes, writing,
 
 crossword puzzles, reading, poetry, and music.
 
 He served in the US Army Medical Corps in Germany for 2 years. He
 
 was president of the Georgia Medical Society, a member of the honor
 
 society Phi Beta Kappa, and was a faithful member of St. Michael and
 
 All Angels Episcopal Church.
 
 He was predeceased by Clara Evans, his college sweetheart and wife of
 
 75 years, and son Bobby Evans. He is survived by his daughters Lynn
 
 Moses and Nancy Relyea; two sons Randolph (Eloise) and David (Cathy)
 
 Evans; eight grandchildren, Karen Moses, Leslie Moses, Mason Evans
 
 (Katie), Jordan Evans, Erin Cortesi (Trevor), Lindsay Evans, Margaret
 
 Evans, and Thomas Evans; and four great grandchildren, Luke, Chloe,
 
 and Clara Evans, and Harleigh Cortesi.
 
 The memorial service is Friday, February 2nd at 11 am with visitation at
 
 10 am at St Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Savannah.
 
 
 In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to
 
 St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Savannah.
