Howard Miller Sanders, 88, died Sunday, November 6, 2022 in Savannah, GA.
He was born November 23, 1933 in Halsell, Alabama. Howard was the middle child of D.L. and Annie Kate Sanders. After high school he served in the US Army for two years. He was a graduate of the University of Florida Forest Ranger School. He spent his entire working career as a forester and retired from Interstate Paper Co. in 1998. He was a member of White Bluff United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, George Era Spann Sanders; children, India (Wesley) Ezell, Larry, and Christi (Sam) Axson, and three great-grandchildren, Lillian, London, and Lennon. He is also survived by his two brothers, David B. Sanders of Birmingham, AL and James L. Sanders (Sylvia) of Meridian, MS, and his brother-in-law, Rod Spann.
The family will receive friends from 11 until 12 o'clock Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service, with full military honors, will be held at 12 noon Thursday, November 10, 2022, in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by the Reverend Barry Giddens. Interment will be at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, Georgia.
