Harriet Gentry Cobb, age 78, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away at home on August 22nd, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 5th, 1946, in Lexington, Kentucky, to William Henry Gentry and Katherine Poor Gentry.
She grew up in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, Corning, New York, and Parkersburg, West Virginia. In these places, she developed the strength, spirit, faith, and generosity that carried her through life. As an adult, she lived in Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida, before moving to Savannah, Georgia in 1994. Over the years, she built a home filled with loved, traditions, and countless stores that her family will treasure.
Her life was marked by faith in the Lord, a successful career, community involvement, and a passion for various pursuits. She poured herself into the people and causes she cared about most: family, church, and Girl Scouts. Her favorite hobbies were arts & crafts, games, and reading. Those who knew her will remember not only her strength, but also the joy she brought with her laughter and her stories.
She leaves behind a family who loved her deeply: her husband of 54 years, Douglas Cobb; her children, Deborah Stovall and husband Matthew, and Brian Cobb and wife Ansley. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Evan and Molly Stovall. She is also survived by many other beloved family members, including her brothers, William Gentry II and James Gentry; her sisters-in-laws, Barbara Williams, Peggy Owen, Sara Gentry, and Holly Gentry; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom will carry forward her memory with pride and much love.
The family gives thanks to the Lord for the gift of her life and the time they were blessed to share with her. “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His steadfast love endures forever!” Psalm 118:29
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27th, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 PM, at Gamble Funeral Home, which is located at 410 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah, GA, 31405.
