Gwen Timberlake (McBride), 82, passed away at home peacefully on December 25, 2025, in Colonels Island, Georgia.
Born on June 6, 1943, in Statesboro, Georgia, Gwen was the eldest of five children born to Arthur and Lucille (Sapp) McBride. She graduated from Savannah High School and went on to build a distinguished career in high-end fashion retail sales and management—a field in which she took immense pride.
Gwen began her professional journey as a store manager at the former Town & Country in downtown Savannah, where she became known for her dedication and leadership. When Town & Country closed its doors, she joined Jarrod’s, an iconic luxury retailer that opened a location in Oglethorpe Mall. There, Gwen thrived as a manager and received numerous awards and accolades for her store’s outstanding performance. She was honored multiple times as Manager of the Year—a recognition she always credited to the hardworking women who stood beside her. To Gwen, they were more than colleagues; they were family, and those bonds endured throughout her life.
Following Jarrod’s acquisition by Nordstrom, Gwen transitioned to managing the Paradies shops at Savannah International Airport. After several successful years there, she accepted a part-time position at Dillard’s to be closer to home and spend more time with her husband and family. She eventually retired from Dillard’s, closing a remarkable chapter of professional excellence.
Gwen is survived by her devoted husband of 36 years, Jamie Timberlake of Colonels Island; three children: son Timmy Todd and his wife Connie of Missouri; son Daryl Todd and his wife Michelle of Georgia; and daughter Denise Todd and her partner Lucy Medeiros of Rhode Island. She also leaves behind four grandsons—Patrick Todd, Daven Todd, Brennan Todd, and Michael Todd—all of Georgia—and one great-grandson, Teagan Todd.
She is also survived by her sisters Linda Nettles and Brenda Watt of Georgia; her brother Ronald McBride of Georgia; and many extended family members and friends who cherished her deeply. Gwen was predeceased by her brother Victor McBride.
A lifelong fan of the Atlanta Braves, Gwen rarely missed a game—even staying up late into the night to watch their West Coast matchups. Her loyalty never wavered through seasons both triumphant and trying. She also loved taking road trips with Jamie, exploring new places together with joy and curiosity. Above all else, Gwen treasured time spent with her beloved family and friends.
Gwen's warmth, strength, and unwavering dedication will be remembered by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those whose lives she touched.
