Born on January 18, 1947, in Waynesboro, Georgia, Gloria Allen Hampton was a woman of strength, resilience, faith, and deep love for her family. She was the beloved daughter of the late Joshua Allen Sr. and Viola Hankerson Allen.

In 1957, her family moved to Savannah, where Gloria was raised among seven of her eight siblings. She was preceded in death by brothers Joshua Jr., Hal, and Keith, and sisters Della Robinson and Lorraine Baxter, and is survived by brothers Harry Allen and Marvin Allen. She also shared a special lifelong bond with her eldest sibling, the late Lee Hankerson.

Gloria attended Woodsville Elementary and graduated from Tompkins High School in 1965. She earned her CNA license at Memorial Hospital in 1966, where she later met her future husband, the late Harry James Hampton. They married in 1969, traveled to Europe during his military service, and returned to the U.S. to begin their family. Gloria was a devoted mother to Noel Hampton Tenner, Nicole Hampton Dorsey, and Phillip James Hampton, and played a nurturing role in the lives of her niece, the late Nakia Baxter Daniels, and her great‑nephew, Kavon Leon Robinson.

While raising her children, Gloria became known for her beautiful sewing and her dedication to caregiving. She later completed bus driver training in 1983 before transitioning into hospitality at the Fairfield Inn. In 1986, she joined M&M Grocery (later Kroger), where she worked for 18 years, earning a reputation for kindness, reliability, and leadership. She also cherished a close companionship with the late William J. Cooper.

After retiring from Kroger in 2004, Gloria continued serving others through 13 years with Home Instead and later at Chick‑fil‑A until 2019. Her warm smile, gentle spirit, and unwavering work ethic touched countless lives.

A woman of steadfast faith, Gloria was a longtime member of Zion Fair Baptist Church, living her devotion to God through service, compassion, and generosity. She was supported throughout her life by a loving community of family and friends from both the Allen and Hankerson families, whose guidance helped shape her remarkable character.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her children Noel (Raffael), Nicole (Gregory), Phillip, and Kavon; grandchildren Malik (Jasmine), Ore, Amoni, and Owen(s); great‑grandchildren Makhai Emyrn and Malaiah Ezran; and her brothers Harry (Marilynn) and Marvin. She is also remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends who were forever touched by her love.

Gloria’s life was defined by devotion—to her family, her faith, and her community. Her legacy of compassion, strength, and grace will continue to live on in all who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends 10 o'clock until 12 noon Sunday at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Ave., Savannah. Funeral services will follow at 12 noon.
