Gene Miller, Sr., 77, of Savannah, Georgia and widower of Helen Gibson Miller, died Saturday morning, February 11, 2017, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Born in Portal, Georgia, he was a son of the late Homer Lee Miller and the late Effie Way Miller. Gene was a member of Faith Primitive Baptist Church. He was a United States Army veteran. Gene was a mechanic and later retired as a machine tender after more than 40 years with International Paper. He was a member of Daylite Lodge #125 F&AM , a member and past master of Roger Lacey #722 F&AM, and a member of the Scottish Rite. Gene loved taking care of his family and enjoyed woodcrafting, hunting, fishing and CB radios.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Miller.
Surviving are one daughter, Kathleen Miller Velez and her husband, Ray; one son, Gene Miller, Jr.; three grandchildren, Michelle Kotlar, Michael Kotlar and Steven Kotlar; two great-grandchildren, Lukas Domingo and Brooklin Kotlar; one sister, Eloise 'Elle' Nielubowicz and her husband, Joe; one brother, Doy Miller and his wife, Lynn; two nieces and two nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o\'clock Monday evening at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service, with masonic rites and military honors, will be held at 10 o\'clock Tuesday morning at the graveside, Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, conducted by Pastor W. Dean Robbins Jr.
