Francis Marion 'Sonny' Edwards, Jr., 64, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Sue Powell Edwards, died Tuesday evening, October 29, 2013, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Born in Columbus, Georgia, he was a son of the late Francis Marion Edwards, Sr. and the late Mary Louise Hightower Edwards. Sonny was a member of Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church. He was a United States Air Force veteran having served as an air traffic controller. Sonny and his wife co-owned and operated Coastal Empire Property Management and he was also a real estate agent for Realty Executives. He loved his family, fishing, hunting and shooting.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Powell Edwards of Savannah, Georgia; four children, Lindsay Ellis and her husband, Chris, of Columbus, John Edwards and his wife, Teresa, of Macon, and Julie Howard and her husband, Johnny, and John Howard, all of Savannah; five grandchildren, Cody, Tristan, Corinne, Kinnett and Quincy; one brother, Mike Edwards of Atlanta; one sister, Jane Sanders of Columbus, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Dr. Benton C. Martin. Interment, with military honors, will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
