SAVANNAH, GEORGIA -Frances O'Dell Schweier of Savannah, GA passed away after an extended illness on May 25, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence C. Schweier, and her parents, William O'Dell and Margaret Kennedy O'Dell.
She was born in Oneonta, N.Y. and was reared in New York City. She and Lawrence Schweier, of Hartford City, IN., were married in White Plains, N.Y. in September, 1949, at which time they moved to his home state of Indiana. Over the next several decades they resided in Texas, Kansas, Illinois, Indiana and Georgia.
She was a devout Roman Catholic, an avid bridge player and lover of jazz music.
Survivors include a sister, Linda O'Dell Pfister, and a niece, Donna Murff, both of Port Orange, FL; seven children: Emily Schweier Dauscher of Bettendorf, Iowa; Janet Schweier Hirsch of Booneville, IN; Peter Schweier of Lindenhurst, IL; Diane Schweier Krall of Carmel, IN; Paula Schweier Iunghuhn of Brookston, IN; Audry Schweier Flinn of Stockbridge, GA; and Philip Schweier of Savannah, GA; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Friday evening at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue, with the Rosary service being held at 7 o'clock in the funeral home chapel.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church conducted by Monsignor Francis J. Nelson. Interment will be private.
