Evelyn Boyd Hall - November 21, 1932 - December 20, 2025
Evelyn Boyd Hall, 93, of Savannah, Georgia, passed from this world to her heavenly home on Saturday, December, 20, 2025, and joined her loving husband of 62 years. Evelyn was born in Collins, Georgia on November 21, 1932 to the late Otis Boyd and Edrice Calloway Boyd.
Mrs. Hall was an affectionate, outgoing woman who never met a stranger. Her greatest joy in life came from being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and later in life, a great-great-grandmother. Evelyn made the BEST chicken and dumplings on the planet; whenever she was going to reunion, etc., everyone requested that she make them. She spent most of her years as a homemaker while she traveled along side her husband during his career in the U.S. Air Force. At one point, she had a daycare in her home. When her children got older, she worked as a bookkeeper at a laundry/uniform company in Moultrie, Georgia. Mrs. Hall was a long-time member of Windsor Forest Baptist Church. She was a member of the Sunshiners' Club, the VFW Auxiliary, the Eastern Stars, and the Independent Order of Oddfellows. Evelyn also worked in the voting polls for many years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and other crafts
.Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her husband of 62 years, James Wiley Hall; her sons, James Hall, Jr. and Dennis Hall; her brother, Otis Clarence Boyd; her son-in-law, James "Jimmy" Vaughn; and her brother-in-law, Jimmy Humphrey.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Carol Porter (David) of Sylvester, Georgia, and Frances Vaughn (Garvin) of Savannah, Georgia; her grandchildren, James "Edward" Vaughn, Jr. (Chrissy) of Riverview, Florida; James "Jimmy" Hall, III (Julia) of Flowery Branch, Georgia; John Vaughn (Nicky) of Pooler, Georgia; Robert "Bobby" Hall of Norcross, Georgia; Rick "Ricky" Porter of Sylvester, Georgia; Matthew Hall of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Jennifer Tripp (Josh) of Marietta, Georgia; Adam Hall (Elise) of Burns, Wyoming; and honorary granddaughter, Tibbie Porter Watson (Donny) of Albany, Georgia; 13 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Joyce Humphrey of Savannah, Georgia; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Oliver of Rincon, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family of Mrs. Hall would like to express their sincerest gratitude to Roger Bailey and Kendra Martin for the love and kindness they showed as they cared for our loved one while she was with them. You went far above and beyond, and we will forever be grateful.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Mrs. Hall with donations in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, Shriner's Children's Hospital, or the Independent Order of Oddfellows.
