Eleanor Sandra 'Sandy' Phelps Danis, 74, of Pooler, Georgia and widow of Larry Martin Danis, died Saturday morning, December 22, 2018, at Hospice Savannah.



Born in Manchester, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late James Phelps and the late Frances Weed Freeman. Sandy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pooler. She was a retired administrator for the medical office of Dr. Dicky W. Timms and later worked for the Georgia Infirmary. Sandy was adventurous and was known to try anything once, including riding a minibike, a motorcycle, and skiing. She was very involved in the lives of her children and their friends. Sandy, who was a devoted wife and mother, was known as the neighborhood mom ' a mother to two and a mom to many. She will be remembered as a caretaker to everyone. Sandy fought a long and courageous battle with cancer but never lost her sense of humor.



In addition to her husband and her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Paul Freeman, and her sister, Cindy Flannigan.



Survivors include her two sons, Michael S. Danis and Ricky Danis and his wife, Marla, all of Pooler, Georgia; three grandchildren, Kamryn Owens, Sandlar Danis and Ian Danis; nieces, nephews and cousins, and her best friends and former co-workers, Madeline Cetti, Ernestine Wiggins and Patsy White.



The family will receive friends from 11 until 1 o'clock Saturday at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah.



The funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by the Reverend Bryan Parrish. Private interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
