Dolores Arline Farrell Bates, 79, of Savannah, Georgia and wife of Thomas Anthony Bates, died Saturday afternoon, August 3, 2013, at Spanish Oaks Retreat.
Born in New York City, New York, she was a daughter of the late William E. Farrell and the late Dorothy E. Arslanian Farrell Vlugt. Mrs. Bates was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church. Mrs. Bates attended Columbia University and was a former insurance company manager. Later she owned and operated John Murphy's Pub in New York City. Mrs. Bates and her husband enjoyed their time spent together, which included golfing.
Surviving are husband of 40 years, Thomas Anthony Bates of Savannah, Georgia; one step-son, Thomas Calise of San Ramon, California; three step-grandchildren, and three nephews, John Sanchez, Edward Sopko and George Sopko.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning at St. James Catholic Church conducted by Father Mark J. Ross. Interment will be in the Catholic Cemetery.
