Claire Rosemary Cramer, 89, passed away Thursday, the 23rd of February at her home under the care of Hospice Savannah.
She is survived by her four children, Thomas (Rita), Nazareth PA; Barbara, Savannah GA; James (Paula) Savannah GA; Rusty (Angela) Stuart, FL; brother, Paul Damico, Sterling VA, and loving companion Frank Yelton, Savannah. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren: Jeffrey, Kristy, Thomas, Jessica, Steven, Jennifer, Zachary, and Courtney, 11 great-grandchildren, her adoring nieces and nephews, and many other beloved family and friends.
Claire is preceded in death by her husband of over 51 years, Edward.
Claire was born on February 21st 1928 in Queens County, New York to Louis and Claire Damico. She was raised on Long Island and worked at the New York Telephone Company as a switchboard operator. Claire married Ed in 1950 and the family moved to Savannah, GA in 1976. They then moved to Florida where Ed retired from Grumman in 1990 and returned to Savannah in 1996 and lived on Wilmington Island. She was a loving mother, and grandmother who was well known by all as 'Nanny'! Claire enjoyed spending her time with her grandchildren, shopping, going to the beach, and being with family and friends. She was an active member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Monday at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 o'clock Tuesday at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church on Wilmington Island. Afterwards, family will meet with family and friends at St. Peter's Parish Center in celebration of her life. Interment will be private.
