Chester “Chet” Manning Carter III

Chester Manning Carter, age 62, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at home, surrounded by family. He was born on September 28, 1963, in Baltimore, Maryland, and lived in Savannah, Georgia all of his life.

Chet graduated from Savannah High School in 1981 and retired after more than 35 years of service with Georgia Pacific. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a love for cooking, classic cars, fishing, and, most of all, his family. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and great-uncle.

He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Manning Carter Jr.; his sister, Shelley Evans; and his brothers-in-law, Patrick Evans and David Evans.

He is survived by his mother, Priscilla Carter; sisters, Diane Hall and Carol Evans; brother, Steve Carter (Jamie); and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
