Charles Daniel Stewart, Jr., 93 died May 13, 2025, of a short illness. Charles was born January 8, 1932, in Columbus, Georgia to Rev. Charles Stewart and Mary Ruth Norris Stewart.
Charles was a lifelong Baptist and active in several Baptist churches in Savannah. He graduated from high school in Glennville and from Mercer University. During the Korean conflict, Charles served in the US Army’s Counterintelligence Corps as a special agent. He was employed by General Motors Acceptance Corporation for over 34 years. His interests included reading good books as well as boating, fishing, and sports. Charles enjoyed traveling to nearly all European countries, Canada, Mexico and to all the 50 US states. He was particularly interested in history and historical sites.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Ruth Stewart Bradley.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn, his daughter Cathy Thomas of Amelia Island; his sons Mark and Brain (Kim) of Savannah; and granddaughters Lauren and Brianna.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Yemassee, SC for the immediate family.
