Charles 'Charlie' Glenn Smith, Jr., 53, of Pooler, Georgia and husband of Nicolette 'Nicki' Beebe Smith, died Monday morning, February 18, 2013, at Candler Hospital.
Born in Beaufort, South Carolina, he was a son of Donna Jean Ard Smith and the late Charles Glenwood 'Smitty' Smith, Sr.?? Charlie was a member of Bible Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the Pastor's Class. He loved his church and enjoyed being an active part of the mission trips. Charlie was a United States Army veteran. He was a heavy equipment mechanic for Tractor & Equipment Company in Savannah for 28 years. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Kay Smith.
Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Nicolette 'Nicki' Beebe Smith of Pooler, Georgia; one son, Cody Smith, a student at Liberty University; his mother, Donna Jean Ard Smith of Savannah, Georgia; one sister, Mary Grace Shelton of Hickory, North Carolina, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o\'clock Tuesday evening at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at Bible Baptist Church conducted by The Reverend Dr. Herbert F. Hubbard and The Reverend Thomas W East, Jr. Interment will be in Hillcrest Abbey - West.
