Charles Edward 'Ed' Helmly, Jr., 54, of Rincon, Georgia, died Wednesday afternoon, December 2, 2015, at Candler Hospital.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was a son of the late Charles Edward Helmly, Sr. and the late Carrie Lou Axson Helmly. Ed was of the Baptist faith. He was a warehouse manager/supervisor for Ocean Link for 14 years. Ed was a great dad and grandfather, who enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and horses.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Edward 'Chad' Helmly III of Rincon, Robert Ashley Helmly, Sr. and his wife, Tina, of Rincon, and Tyler Helmly and his wife, Meredith, of Savannah; three daughters, Tiffany Gearhart and her husband, Mike, of Statesboro, Melissa Hill and her husband, Chris, of Springfield, and Kaydee Head and her husband, Kevin, of Lyons; his fianc??, Judy Lynch of Rincon; twelve grandchildren; two sisters, Suzan McCormick of Rincon and Beverly Mercer and her husband, Austin, of Clyo, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 Sunday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Monday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by Minister Don Davis. Interment will be in Bonaventure Cemetery.
