Carole Gates Elliott of Savannah, Georgia passed away peacefully on July 18th, 2025.
Carole was born on May 18th, 1937 in Ashland, Kentucky. She married Wayne A. Elliott in 1961 and raised their daughter, Elizabeth, in Macon, Georgia. Carole worked at Bell South for many years and supported her husband, Wayne, in his political career as a Georgia State Representative and his other business endeavors. She was also an active member of Vineville Baptist Church, where she served in the choir. In 2010, she moved to Savannah, Georgia and joined her family in membership at Southside Baptist Church.
Carole had a passion for bargains, thrifting, and home decor. Through this passion, she generously filled the homes of her daughter and grandchildren with unique antique and vintage furniture. Nothing excited Carole more than a new can of spray paint and a piece of used furniture. An enthusiastic hostess and inventive gift-giver, Carole loved improvising in the kitchen and delighting her friends and family with unforgettable recipes and unexpected Christmas gifts. She will be remembered by her friends and family for her unshakable faith in Jesus, her piercing Liz Taylor-blue eyes, and her vibrant personality.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Gresham (Peter); her granddaughters, Catie Gresham and Christen Barron (Nickolas); and her great-granddaughters, Ana and Emma Duke. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and her loving husband, Wayne. Carole made many sacrifices for her family and she leaves behind a legacy of faith and generosity.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Gamble Funeral Service on August 2nd at 11 am with visitation starting at 10 am.
