Obituary

C. Robert Friedman of Savannah Georgia passed on 7.26.26 at his home. He is survived by his son, Vidor Friedman, and wife, Allyson Friedman, his son, Daron Friedman, and partner, Antje Hornbeck, his brother, Stan Friedman, and wife, Janna Martin Friedman, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hyman Friedman and Bertha Scheer Friedman, his aunts, uncles and his husband Vernon Mosheim.

Bob was born in New York City in 1935, he spent his formative years in New York and Savannah, graduating from Savannah High in 1952. He was passionate about education his entire life, completing a BA from Clark University, an MA from the University of Florida and he earned a PhD in Sociology from University of Connecticut.

He first taught at the University of Maine and took his passion for teaching to Antioch College in Ohio in 1965. After many years of teaching he transitioned to administration, leaving Antioch in 1989 to work as a Dean at Iona College in White Plains, NY.

In retirement, Bob became an avid sculptor and painter. He deeply loved his family and friends, art, the symphony, travel and conversation. For all of his life, he was deeply rooted in Jewish culture and traditions.

Shiva/Visitation will be held at his home on Thursday July 30, 2026 from 3-6 pm, and Friday, July 31, 2026 from Noon-6pm.
