Betty Weiss Lasky

d. February 1, 2019

Betty Weiss Lasky was born in Savannah, Georgia on February 9, 1936 and died on February 1, 2019.

She was married to her childhood sweetheart, Larry J. Lasky, for over 61 years until Larry's death in 2015. They were an unbeatable team that truly lit up a room with their love. Betty was known to all that loved her as Bubbe which is a Yiddish term of endearment for grandmother. Betty was a Bubbe all the way to her very core. She loved holding babies and often said with a smile on her face that the babies loved lying on her soft chest. Bubbe was loved by all and loved by everyone that knew her. Baking was one of her passions and a way she could express her love to others. You could feel the depths of her love every time you would take a bite on your birthday of her famous banana cake with chocolate coffee icing.

She was an avid mah jong player having played with her girlfriends every Tuesday and Thursday for as far back as any of us can remember. She played scrabble, words with friends and loved to roll a set of dice down the crap table whenever she had a chance. She traveled all over the world with Larry and after he passed away continued to travel with her children and grandchildren. Her last trip was taking her 5 grandchildren and their spouses/significant others to Montreal. She was truly an expert in creating memories, building family and teaching those around her the meaning of true love. We are sure Betty and Larry are once again dancing cheek to cheek in the serenity of heaven to their favorite song, Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered.

Bubbe was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Lasky, her parents, Nathan and Rose Weiss, her in-laws Sidney and Belle Lasky, her brother, Stanley Weiss, her sister, Harriett Karesh and her sister-in law, Sandra Samuels. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Stacy Lasky, her daughter and son-in-law, Jodi and Kenneth Sadler and her 6 grandchildren, Darryl and Mindy Lasky, Stephen Lasky, Rose Sadler, Beth Sadler and Dr. Barney Sadler.

The graveside funeral service will take place on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Rabbi Steven Henkin performing the service.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Larry Lasky Fund for Conservative Judaism at Agudath Achim Synagogue or the JEA Preschool Savannah.
