In Loving Memory of Barbara Ann Tyson

Barbara Ann Tyson, born November 18, 1936, in Savannah, GA, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026.

Barbara, well known as Ann, was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Born and raised in Savannah, GA, she built a beautiful life that will continue to flourish through the people she loved. 

She was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and a pivotal part in the birth of Barnes Restaurant. From caring for the daycare children at St. Paul’s to feeding her community at the family restaurant, she left her mark on the people around her that can never be forgotten. 

She never let age define her — full of life, stories, and always ready for a good conversation. She will be remembered for her spunky spirit, her love for gossiping, and the compassion she showed to her community.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Tim Tyson, her son, Michael Tyson, her grandchildren, Christopher Roth and Victoria Roth, her nephews, Alan Barnes and Hugh Barnes, and several great nephews and nieces. Barbara is preceded in death by her children, Patricia Roth and Dana Tyson, her parents, Vallie Barnes and Asbury Barnes, her brother, Nesbert “Bo” Barnes, and her sister Valeria Rumary.

A visitation service will be held on Friday, August 14th, at 3 o’clock at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
