Barbara Jane Litchfield Attaway, 84, of Savannah, Georgia and wife of Harold Lloyd Attaway, died Sunday afternoon, August 6, 2017, at Azalealand Nursing Home.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Thomas George Litchfield and the late Jessie Mae Brown Litchfield. Mrs. Attaway was a longtime member of Epworth United Methodist Church and later Cokesbury United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Candler Nursing School. Mrs. Attaway retired after 39 years as a registered nurse at Candler Hospital with most of those years as a supervisor and she continued to supervise everything until her death. She loved baking, cooking and feeding people. Mrs. Attaway enjoyed sports particularly the University of Georgia and the Atlanta Braves. Grandma, as she was known by her grandchildren, was a devoted grandmother who cherished the time shopping for her grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband of almost 63 years, Harold Lloyd Attaway; one daughter, Terry A. Barker and her husband, Greg; one son, Steven Attaway and his wife, Karen; four grandchildren, Brandi Sauers and her husband, Andrew, Greg David Barker, Jennifer Attaway Robertson and her husband, Joseph, and Lindsey Attaway; one great-grandson, Andrew Carter Sauers; four brothers, George Litchfield and his wife, Bobbeye, Bill Litchfield and his wife, Diane, Tommy Litchfield and his wife, Peggy, and Donnie Litchfield and his wife, Pat, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 9 until 11 o'clock Saturday morning, August 12, 2017, at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Saturday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by Holland Morgan. Private interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
