Annette Harris Karp, 89, of Tybee Island, Georgia and widow of Melvin Karp, died Thursday evening, December 3, 2015, at Candler Hospital.
Born in Douglas, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Abraham Harris and the late Clara Kronsdadt Harris. Mrs. Karp was a member of Congregation Agudath Achim. For over 65 years she was a member and served several terms as president of the Congregation Agudath Achim Sisterhood. Mrs. Karp was a lifelong member of the Jewish Educational Alliance and was a founding member of the Mitzvah Committee for Congregation Agudath Achim. She and her husband owned and operated Karp Motors for many years. Mrs. Karp was an avid bridge player. She was a true Southern lady who will be remembered most for her dedication and love for her synagogue and family, and for never saying anything negative or unkind about anyone.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Eric Nathan Karp; a sister, Hilda Weinstein, and a brother, Herschel Harris.
Surviving are one daughter, Sheryl Kreh and her husband, Dr. Gustave 'Stavie' Kreh, of Tybee Island, Georgia; two sons, Sidney Karp of Savannah, Georgia and Arnold Karp and his wife, Chrissie, of Rincon, Georgia; five grandchildren, Aaron Kreh, Erica Kreh, Marissa Karp, Evan Karp and Miles Karp, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Sunday morning at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Mose Siberschein.
