Alan Jay Asher

Alan Jay Asher, 77, passed away Friday, February 13, 2026 in Savannah.

Mr. Asher was born May 4, 1948 to the late Sidney and Esta Asher. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. In addition to his family, he loved playing golf, his weekly poker game, and of course his alma mater, the Miami Hurricanes. He was an avid member of the Savannah Jewish community, along with being a past president of the B’nai Brith Jacob Congregation.

Mr. Asher was preceded in death by his wife Rita of 53 years, his parents Sidney and Esta Asher and his sister Sheila. He is survived by his son, Zachary Asher, daughter, Shannon Javetz and husband Scott; grandchildren, Reese and Matthew Javetz, Sadie and Glavine Asher.

Shiva will be held at the Asher residence, 6401 Habersham Street #6A, Savannah, GA, 31405 Sunday, February 15 through Thursday, February 19 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm and Friday, February 20 from 11am-1pm.
