ROBERT LEE “SCOOTER” NELSON, JR.

Robert Lee “Scooter” Nelson, Jr., 58, formerly of Savannah, Georgia, died Sunday morning, August 16, 2020, at Camellia Health & Rehabilitation in Claxton, Georgia.

Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was a son of Robert Lee Nelson, Sr. and Sarah Diane Jenkins Wood. Scooter was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired forklift operator. Scooter was a former baseball player who thoroughly loved the game.

He was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Dell Moore.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Diane and Robert Wood; his father and step-mother, Robert and Linda Nelson; his sister, Bonnie Altman and her husband, Miles; his brother, Kenneth “Kenny” Aaron Nelson; his niece, Sarah Altman; his nephew, Caleb Altman; aunts, uncles and cousins.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, August 19, 2020, at the graveside, Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by the Reverend Dr. Drew Corbett.
