RICHARD DALE “DICKY” BARKER

Richard Dale “Dicky” Barker, 71, of Savannah, Georgia, died Tuesday morning, November 12, 2019, under the care of Hospice Savannah.

He was born in Savannah, Georgia to the late D.L. “Pete” Barker and the late Cecelia Merritt Barker. Dicky was a graduate of Cathedral Day School and graduated from Savannah High School, class of 1968. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and of the Catholic faith. Dicky was also an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Falcons, and Atlanta Braves.

Once you met Dicky you would not forget him. He was the type of person that would do anything he could for you. He liked to have a good time no matter the occasion and he had those good times with the countless friends he has known since childhood.

Dicky had recently enjoyed a birthday celebration with lifelong friends David, Charlie, Harry, and Jimmy. He had a great sense of humor and personality, and his memory will last forever with family and friends.

He is survived by his brother, Jim Barker; sisters, Ann Barker and Mary Barker Reiser (Billy); and aunt, Hazel Barker all of Savannah; nephews, Jamie Barker and Brian Barker (Tiffany); great-nephew, Aedan Barker; and great-nieces, Macy Barker and Gwen Barker, all of Atlanta, and several cousins.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock Thursday, November 21, 2019, at Gamble Funeral Service – 410 Stephenson Avenue. The funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service, conducted by the Reverend Joseph A. Smith. Interment will be private.

As Dicky was an avid animal lover, in lieu of flowers, please send remembrances to the The Humane Society for Greater Savannah – 7215 Sallie Mood Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406-3922.
