I am deeply saddened to learn of your loss. JT was in my home room for four years, and I came to love his wry wit and his no-nonsense manner. Quiet yet always thoughtfully engaged, he was a reliably calm presence amidst the frequent chaos and inanity of school life. I can only imagine your sorrow, and I pray that God will grant you comfort in your happiest memories of John Thomas.

  14. Caitlin Foley Phillips says:

This news makes me so very sad. Spending those few summers with Kate and John Thomas is something I will never forget. I remember riding around Savannah with them in my Honda Civic (or the Landings in the golf cart) singing songs and talking about their lives. JT had an amazing way of keeping things fun, energetic and never, ever boring. I will always remember his intelligence, kindness and quick wit.

He first introduced me to the Harry Potter series and we’d pass summer afternoons reading on the couch together. This summer I will read the first book to my own son who is almost the same age John Thomas was then. Sending your family many prayers for strength and healing amid your deep grief. You are loved by many, as was John Thomas.

My sincerest condolences to the entire Paul family. JT was an orchestra buddy who I could always count on for some wry conversation over a chicken biscuit before rehearsal. I am deeply saddened by this news–we will miss you friend.
