WILBUR DEAN COLLIER

 
                       

BLUFFTON, SOUTH CAROLINA - Wilbur Dean Collier, 88, of Bluffton, South Carolina, husband of Elizabeth Muir Warren Collier, died Thursday morning, August 18, 2011, at his home after a short illness.

He was born in the Prairie township, Kempton, Indiana, a son of the late Anderson Abraham Collier and the late Myrtle Glenn Collier. Mr. Collier was part of the Presbyterian and Episcopalian faiths. He was a retired manager and metallurgical engineer for Textron Industries. Mr. Collier was a United States Army veteran during World War II, having served from 1943 until 1947 as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a participant during D-Day. Mr. Collier was an avid sportsman.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Phillip R. Collier and Matthew F. Warren, and three brothers, Lowell, Morris, and Leroy Collier.

Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Elizabeth Muir Warren Collier of Bluffton, South Carolina; his son, Jerry D. Collier and his wife, Sylvia, of Tallahassee, Florida; his daughter-in-law, Terry Collier, of Sweetser, Indiana; his daughter, Deborah Warren and her husband, Augustus Oemler, Jr., of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; six grandchildren, Denise, Michelle, Jerad, Alison, William, and Bryan, and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at the graveside, Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by The Reverend Gavin G. Dunbar.

A memorial service will follow at 12 noon at Colleton Pointe at Rose Hill Plantation, Bluffton, South Carolina.
