VERA MAE ANDERSON HUNTER GERBASI

SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Vera Mae Anderson Hunter Gerbasi, 95, of Savannah, Georgia, widow of Dr. Roy Abner Hunter and Joseph Gerbasi,  died Friday morning, July 29, 2011, at Candler Hospital under the care of Hospice Savannah.

Born in Statesboro, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Oscar Anderson and Lila Mae Martin Anderson. Mrs. Gerbasi was a hairdresser for over fifty years, owning and operating her own salon. She was an avid gardener who loved her yard and was a wonderful cook. Mrs. Gerbasi was a gracious hostess to friends and family. She was a caring and loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Catherine Hunter Powers, of Savannah, Georgia; granddaughter, Catherine Blake Powers, of Savannah, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.

The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Monday morning at the graveside, Eastside Cemetery in Statesboro, Georgia, conducted by Elder Lavone Anderson.
