SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Tony Rambis, 29, formerly of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Savannah, Georgia, on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, from accidental drowning.

He is survived by his parents, Mark and Debbie Rambis of Savannah, Georgia; his brother and sister-in-law, Andy and Brandi Rambis of Houston, Texas; his sister and brother-in-law, Billie Jo and Frank Richardson of Savannah, Georgia; his maternal grandmother, Betty Scank of Terre Haute, Indiana; his nephews, Connor, Dillon and Elliot Rambis; his niece, Kay Lee Richardson; ten loving uncles and aunts: Jim and Tina Rambis of Indiana, Charles and Roma Rambis of Indiana, Bill Scank of Indiana, Will and Toni French of Washington, Dr. Sarah Scank of Indiana, Larry and Linda Wade of Texas, Peggy Frailey of California, Gary and Cindy King of California, Kelly Rambis of Georgia, Don and Nancy McClain of Minnesota, and sixteen great cousins from around the country.

A celebration of life will be held at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon, March 6th, at the family residence on Skidaway Island. All friends of the family are invited to share in the “BOILER UP!” release of black and gold balloons in a final celebratory toast – and – shout for this die-hard Purdue University alumnus.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to the “Purdue Foundation” – 403 West Wood Street, West Lafayette, Indiana 47907-2007 or by calling 800/319-2199, in the name of Antonius Leonard Rambis (1981 – 2011). GO BOILERS!

Uncle Mark, Aunt Deb, Andy,and Billie Jo,

The greatest gift of all is love and Tony possessed so much love in his heart. His beautiful smile and sweet spirit will truly be missed. He loved life and God's people. My prayers are with all of our family members during this time of bereavement. Remember, this is not permanent,only temporay. We shall be reunited with him and the rest of our family soon. I can see Tony now as he is up in Heaven with Bobo, Papa, Jack and so many others, all full of joy and peace.

Tony was such a bright light. You could see the both of you in his smile, laugh, attitude and the way he presented himself. Although I was only fortunate to be around him a few times, I felt like I knew him. You never failed to show your love or the pride that you have for your children. And, it was obvious how much love he had for you. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of your family. I will be thinking of your on Sunday during the celebration of his life and will cheer for Purdue this March in his memory.

There are no words to lessen your sorrow and grief. Time does not heal. But I promise you, there will come a day when you will once again have moments of joy. At first they will be fleeting and few but eventually we do find a way back to being open to enjoying life once again. Those who have gone before us do not begrudge us that and would be saddened if we could not. We never "get over" a loss like this, we just integrate it into who we are. We were so terribly upset at the news of Tony's death. He was such a part of our family as he and Jeremy were playing music, video games and walking the halls of South together. He brought such life and joy ...and mischieviousness to our home. His spirit was full and he shared that light spirit with everyone around him. He lived life to the fullest and was a true friend to Jeremy and was an inspiration to us all. You have our deepest sympathy. To the family and friends of Tony:

Most of you may not know who I am. My name is Seaira. My mom and my two brothers use to live down the street from Tony years ago when he attended Purdue. He became a very good friend and more like a big brother to me. He always had a smile on his face and would always try to help me the best he could. We sadly lost touch with Tony. My mom and I went looking for him and found out he had passed. This came as a shock to us. I am happy that I had a chance to know Tony. He was a kindhearted person and he will be missed by many people.
RIP Tony - you'll be forever missed.
