ROBERT THOMAS SHARKEY

 

SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Robert Thomas Sharkey, 73, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away Friday morning, September 17, 2010, at Hospice Savannah surrounded by his family.

Born in Richmond Hill, New York, he was a son of the late James Joseph Sharkey and the late Elizabeth Savage Sharkey. He was the youngest of eight siblings. Mr. Sharkey served in the United States Air force and was retired from Memorial University Medical Center’s Information Systems Department.

“Sharkey” was known for his love of fishing and the outdoors. He will be greatly missed by all, especially his children. The family would like to extend a special thanks to everyone at Hospice Savannah for their loving care.

Mr. Sharkey is survived by his wife, JoAnne Clifton Sharkey; six daughters, Belinda Hostetter of Savannah, Georgia, Cathy Odom and her husband, Jim, of Guyton, Georgia, Susan Sharkey Hagan and her husband, Richard, of Savannah, Georgia, Kelly Sharkey Wheeler of Savannah, Georgia, Bobbi Jo Gillis and her husband, Med, of Rincon, Georgia, Nicole Sharkey Miller and her husband, Richard, of Traverse City, Michigan; one son, Christopher Thomas Sharkey of Savannah, Georgia; two sisters, Joyce Donofrio and her husband, Ralph, of Dix Hills, New York, Virginia McMahon of San Diego, California; sixteen grandchildren, Hugh, Max and Emma Hostetter, Olivia Odom, Nicolette Sheley, Matthew (Drew) and Jake Odom, Ryan and Maddie Wheeler and Ian Willman, Kyle (Miranda), Alex and Spencer Gillis, Josephine, John Patrick and Coco Miller; three great-grandchildren, Noah, Annabelle, and Colin Sheley and many nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held.
