Bob, left this world doing exactly what he truly loved to do, ride his BMW motorcycle. He was as feisty as they come which is why he was a good trial lawyer. As a fellow motorcyclist and pilot, bob was always engaged in conversation about the two skills. He never let his medical challenges get in the way and was admired by many of us for not just sitting down and talking about what could have been. I'll always remember his final wave to me as I left the group on the Blue Ridge Parkway and headed home as he and his buddies rode on to the Finger Lakes of New York. May our Lord welcome him into his loving arms.

It is with a VERY heavy heart that I learned my lifelong friend, mentor, attorney, and second Father has passed away. He was doing what he enjoyed most these days - riding his motorcycle. Bob has been my adviser, confidant, and biggest fan since I was 18 years old, which is 34 years. Through those years he has advised, nurtured, loved and protected me. He has represented so many of my friends and family through the years it's remarkable. I loved him dearly and will miss him the rest of my days. Jon, I have known of you through your father most of your life, you are in my heart and prayers.

Bob was a good friend and sailing buddy. Most memorable trip was when we took his boat, along with Ken Scherz up the ICW to the Cheasapeake. There was this little submerged island in NC that jumped up and touched our bottom.

Bob died with his boots on, the way he would have wanted it. No hospital with tubes.

I remember Bob as a man who was dealt a heavy hand - yet who made the best of it. It took a good man to keep up with daily work, ride out west (and back) in just a few days and never complain about the physical toll it all was taking. His one complaint was that those he was trying to help, often could not be helped, because the accident of birth had the deck stacked against them.
Bob liked talking about his flying carrier and the time he spent overseas- leaving memories that lasted a lifetime.
Fare thee well Bob and keep that Beemer humming.

Robert was a true fighter always holding his own. His wings would soar like an Eagle when he knew of a biking trip. I am thankful for his services as a attorney in our community. He concerned himself with the needy as well. God Bless him into the kingdom of divine Glory!

For Bob

If tears were gold I would have made millions this past week.

I wish we’d spent more time together in the last few years Bob. I feel like I’ve missed something and I regret it. But I carry with me the fond memories of the times we did share.
And what times they were: New Year celebrations at 45 South; your sixtieth birthday party, sailing, and the many Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. I remember one conversation in particular.
Over very fine Scotch, we once discussed the makings of a good life. We determined that a good life is one that is lived and not just talked about; one that is lived with gusto, right until the last moment. Congratulations, my friend; you did it. I hope as my years pass that I am brave enough to live my life the way you lived yours.
It never occurred to me that, May 22nd, 2010, would be our last hoorah. But I could not have asked for a better one than being there in that old familiar house, surrounded by family and friends, as we laughed and talked and the years that separated us faded away. It makes a wonderful final memory.
It breaks my heart to say goodbye. So I’ll just say thank you, Bob.

Bob - You will be missed. As the above condolences mention, you did indeed go out with your boots on - just like you would have wanted. I hope you are riding that BMW and sailing your days away in a much better place. Johnny and I will miss you. I will miss your stories of our encounters over the years. We had fun, didn't we?
