ROBERT "BOB" JAMES WELCHER

SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Robert "Bob" James Welcher, 60, of Savannah, Georgia, beloved husband and friend of Nancy Neumann Welcher, died Saturday morning, May 8, 2010, at Hospice Savannah.

Raised on Staten Island, New York, he was a son of the late William Welcher and the late Henrietta Casprzycki Welcher. Bob was a communicant of the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist where he served as an usher and was a Eucharistic minister. He served in the United States Coast Guard. Bob and Nancy came to Savannah in 1994 where they made many wonderful friends. He was the president and owner of AJF Marine Consultants, Inc. Bob served on the original Board of Friends of Animals of the Coastal Empire.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Neumann Welcher of Savannah, Georgia; one stepson, Wayne Petersen of Broomfield, Colorado; one brother, William Charles Welcher of Carbondale, Colorado, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Tuesday at 504 East Bay Street, Savannah.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning in Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Interment will be private.
