I am Randy's niece Allison from Huntsville,Alabama. I didnt have the opportunity to spend a lot of time with my favorite uncle due to miles, but this summer I was able to visit him while he was in the hospital...which is time I will treasure forever. He told stories about my parents and all the good times he had with them, the favorite tea that mom made, the "nicknames" he had for my parents (his only brother and sister-n-law)and numerous other stories. Randy was one of the most generous and loving people I have ever known. Whether far or near, his family was priority, he showed that by being able to recall EVERY detail of times that were special to him. You knew on your birthday or Christmas EVERY year you would be getting a card from he and grandmother. He NEVER forgot anything. He appreciated EVERYTHING!!(even little things like the candy we snuck him in the hospital) He took great pride and joy in hearing successes from his family. There was not a nurse or employee at Candler hospital who didnt know who I was when they walked in the room, because in days prior they had heard him "brag" about his "Nurse Niece" in alabama. He opened his heart to my Husband and his children, and gave Corey (my husband) someone to talk to about "Westerns" "the History Channel" and guns! I'm honored to call him UNCLE. I am inspired by witnessing such bravery in fighting such an evil disease. I am blessed by his love for his family. I am at peace knowing his aching body is at rest and that the Good LORD only takes the best! I will love and miss you with all of my heart forever and always. Love Always, Allison, Corey, McKinlie and Zane Gray.
